The Czech Republic’s leading ski resorts count on LEITNER ropeways

The largest and most famous ski resorts in the Czech Republic’s Giant Mountains are now also extremely popular with foreign visitors thanks to sustainable innovations. This winter, the ski resorts Černá Hora – Pec and Špindlerův Mlýn will put new ropeways from LEITNER ropeways into operation. In addition to numerous features for enhanced comfort, they are also fitted with the South Tyrolean company’s DirectDrive, a world exclusive that enables them to operate particularly reliable and sustainable.

Winter sports are increasingly catching on in the Czech Republic thanks in particular to significant investment that has also made the ski resorts more attractive to visitors from abroad. Two of the best-known resorts are drawing attention with important innovations by installing technology from LEITNER ropeways. The ski resort Černá Hora – Pec in the east of the Giant Mountains is the country’s largest with 41 kilometers of ski slopes. This winter, the new Hofmanky Express will begin operation from Hofmanovy boudy in Janské Lázně (resort Černá Hora), offering guests much more comfort than before. The CD6C chairlift from LEITNER ropeways will be fitted with blue bubbles and bluish-black chair pads complete with seat heating. For the drive technology, the customer MEGA PLUS s.r.o. is relying on the innovative DirectDrive from LEITNER ropeways.The ropeway will measure around 1,100 meters in length, have nine towers, and conquer a vertical distance of 306 meters. As the first chairlift to be installed in the Czech Republic, it is going to carry winter sports enthusiasts with a speed of 6 meters per second. A passenger capacity of 2,400 people per hour is accomplished by 47 chairs. The fully automatic garaging system in the stations will also provide crucial benefits. Thanks to a new parking lot, the ski resort will also be much easier to access. 

Like Černá Hora - Pec, Špindlerův Mlýn is also one of the Czech Republic’s largest and most prominent ski resorts. This region of the Giant Mountains is particularly popular with German winter sports enthusiasts and has 15 installations to help skiers climb its slopes, which are almost 25 kilometers long in total. The St. Peter ski resort features FIS-homologated race routes. This winter, technology from LEITNER ropeways will also ensure increased comfort and shorter waiting times in Špindlerův Mlýn. The CD6C Pláň ropeway will replace an old 4-seater chairlift and offer the full range of features for enhanced comfort with blue bubbles, bluish-black upholstery with seat heating and individual footrests. LEITNER ropeways’ exclusive direct drive will also be used in Špindlerův Mlýn along with an automatic garaging system. The ropeway will measure 1,506 meters in length with a vertical rise of 440 meters. The installation will be supported by 14 towers and have 

78 chairs. The system can transport 2,400 people an hour.
