Two of South Tyrol’s most popular and long-established ski resorts are placing their trust in the innovative technology from LEITNER ropeways. Guests in Obereggen can look forward to greater comfort at the start of the 2016/17 winter season, when a chairlift will be replaced by a Telemix system. A 10-passenger gondola lift will be installed on the Plose mountain near Bressanone/Brixen, replacing two chairlifts and opening up many new transport opportunities.
This isn’t just any new ropeway – the new Telemix system has great symbolic value for the Obereggen ski resort and for LEITNER ropeways. The South Tyrolean ropeway manufacturer is returning to the popular ski resort east of Bolzano/Bozen after around 30 years. A modern Telemix system will be replacing the previous fixed 4-seater “Laner” chairlift in time for the start of the next winter season. Equipped with 6-passenger seats and 8-seater cabins, it doesn’t just improve transport services. It also offers far greater functionality. Parallel to the new facility, a 750-meter-long toboggan run will be installed between the Epircher-Laner Alpine farm and the valley station, meaning tobogganists will soon be able to reach their destination easily with the flexible and spacious ropeway. The Laner ski slope is being extended at the same time, offering even more attractive descents with panoramic views. As another bonus, the new installations provide a far more convenient and efficient link to the Pampeago ski resort. Numerous technical details also ensure greater comfort and safety when travelling. The seats with individual footrests and the long stations help make boarding an pleasant experience. At an inclined length of 469 meters and with four support towers, the lift climbs 96 meters up to 1,834 meters above sea level. Its passenger capacity is 3,000 people per hour. Chairman of Obereggen AG Georg Weissensteiner sees great strategic potential in the return of LEITNER ropeways: “We are delighted to have a good working relationship with another well-known South Tyrolean company that offers a wealth of technical and – in particular – alpine expertise.”
On the Plose, Brixen’s local mountain, there is further proof that multifunctionality is becoming increasingly important for ropeways. The GD10 Pfannspitze will be put into operation in the coming winter season, replacing the two “Skihütte” and “Pfannspitze” chairlifts. In summer, bikers, families with baby strollers, and passengers alike will enjoy plenty of room and greater comfort when travelling in the spacious 10-passenger cabins. Summer and winter sports enthusiasts will also be able to transport their equipment more easily. The gondola lift travels from 1,918 to 2,472 meters at an inclined length of 1,715 meters, supported by 11 towers. Its passenger capacity is 1,800 people per hour. The facility is equipped with the innovative DirectDrive system from LEITNER ropeways. The gearless drive system brings together a variety of benefits, including lower consumption and maintenance costs, less wear, better environmental sustainability and greater comfort when travelling thanks to reduced noise levels. Plose Ski AG has been a customer of LEITNER ropeways for many years. “LEITNER ropeways has proven to be a trustworthy and reliable partner, together with whom we have installed numerous successful facilities,” says Alessandro Marzoa, CEO of Plose Ski AG. “We are delighted to be continuing this partnership on the Plose.”
